Children's TLC - Wyandotte County Infant-Toddler Services Office

Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (ECSE)
The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher in the Wyandotte County Infant-Toddler Services program serves eligible infants and toddlers and their families in home and community-based settings.  The ECSE teacher engages in evaluation, program planning, caregiver coaching, and team collaboration in order to work toward family-identified outcomes for each child, taking particular team leadership in cognitive development, behavior management, and the development of routines.

Requirements for ECSE:
Professional

  • Licensure from the Kansas State Department of Education in Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood-Unified, or provisional licensure leading to full licensure (pending KSDE approval)
  • Evidence of successful experience in the evaluation and education of young children with disabilities or developmental delays

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education or related field resulting in KS licensure

Physical/Environmental / Other

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Ability to work comfortably in a variety of positions including seated on the floor
  • Ability to carry or pull materials/equipment up to 20 lbs. a distance of up to 100 yds.
  • Ability to work in a variety of home and community settings including the ability to ascend/descend stairs

Social Worker
Children's TLC is seeking a full time Social Worker for the Wyandotte County Infant-Toddler Services program to serve eligible infants, toddlers and their families in home and community-based settings. The Social Worker will engage in evaluation, program planning, caregiver coaching, and team collaboration in order to work toward family-identified outcomes for each child’s mental health, coordinating community resources and challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities include:
Service Coordination

  • Conduct intake and screening visits (to determine eligibility for services) at the family’s home, childcare or other natural setting.
  • Work together with families and other team members to develop appropriate Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) based upon family-identified priorities
  • Provide Family Service Coordination which includes identifying, mobilizing, and coordinating community resources and services to enable the family to receive the maximum benefits from early intervention services

Social Work Services

  • Deliver ongoing home and community based intervention utilizing a coaching model of caregiver support to integrate developmental activities into the child’s daily routines.
  • Comprehensively assess the child, including gathering information on the family dynamics and living situation, with particular focus on the child’s social emotional development and the parent-child relationship.
  • Provide individual and family-group counseling with parents and other caregivers or family members, and appropriate social skill building and behavior management strategies with the child and family.

Qualifications:

  • Social workers must hold a current and valid license issued by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board, at the Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW),or Temporary Licensed Master’s Social Worker (TLMSW or LMSWT) level, or be licensed as school social worker by the Kansas State Board of Education.
  • Evidence of successful experience in the evaluation and treatment of young children with disabilities or developmental delays and their families
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through written and spoken language
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members of other disciplines (e.g. SLP, OT, ECSE, PT, Nurse, Interpreter)
  • Ability to manage time efficiently to encompass activities in and out of the office.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
