The Children's TLC Groundhog Run is one of the very few 5k races, and believed to be the only 10k
race in the nation that is totally underground. With a consistent temperature of 65 to 68 degrees, the
Hunt Midwest SubTropolis is the ideal venue for runners to compete in this annual winter event! The
races are sanctioned by KC Running Company. All proceeds directly benefit the children served at

Premium 5k or 10k: $100 through January 25
Premium entries include runner registration fee for either the 5k or 10k, a Groundhog Run stocking hat,
and Hospitality Suite access on race day. Your stocking hat and Hospitality Suite wristband will be
available at packet pickup. A limited quantity of Premium Level entries will be available for both races.
An offline registration form is available here. Must be postmarked by January 17, 2014. Submissions will
be declined if race is sold out.

- Driving and Parking Directions:
Hunt Midwest SubTropolis: 8300 NE Underground Dr, Kansas City, MO 64161 (map it)
Ameristar Parking Lot:
3200 N Ameristar Dr, Kansas City, MO 64161
From I-435, take the MO-210 E/Armour Rd Exit and continue on MO-210 to Eldon
Avenue/Ameristar Drive. Traffic officers on MO-210 will direct traffic to turn right into the
Ameristar Parking lot.
Please park in the Ameristar Casio parking lot. We will have shuttle buses taking all runners
from the Ameristar parking lot across the street and dropping off close to the SubTropolis
entrance and then making the return trip to shuttle participants from the race back to the
parking lot as you leave. We hope this eases a lot of the issues with parking and makes it a
much better experience for all participants.
Shuttle busses will run from 6:00 am - Noon. Please give yourself around 45 minutes to park,
board the shuttle and arrive at the cave.
- Participants must be at least 8 years old on race day.
- No race day registration. If not sold out, your last chance to register will be Saturday,
January 25th at packet pick-up.
- Registration fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another year.
- No runner substitutions allowed. This means that your entry cannot be transferred to another
- Strollers and pets are strictly prohibited for safety reasons.
- 2014 Groundhog Run Waiver: In consideration for accepting this entry, the undersigned, intending
to be legally bound hereby, for myself, me, heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, waives, releases, discharges and covenants NOT TO SUE KC Running Company, Eventbrite, Hunt Midwest Enterprises,
Inc., Hunt Midwest Real Estate Development, Inc., Children's TLC or its Managing Board, all sponsors;
and their subsidiaries, associated companies, agents, or employees, race officials, volunteers, their
representatives, officials, volunteers, their representatives, successors or assigns from any or all claims
of liability for death or damage for any and all injuries to me or my property arising out of or in connection
with this event. The Release and Waiver extends to all claims of any kind or nature, whether foreseen or unforeseen, known or unknown. No Refunds or Runner substitutions. Race officials have the authority to
remove anyone from the race, including, but not limited to those using the following: (Absolutely NO)
baby strollers, dogs, rollerblades, or alcoholic beverages allowed. Your canceled check or credit card
statement will serve as your proof of registration. If participant is switching from 5k to 10k, the
additional $5.00 charge will be due at packet pickup. By accepting this waiver you authorize the use of photographs or video taken during the
event to be used in promotional materials.
The Groundhog Run has a limited capacity and the race could sellout prior to January 25, 2014. We do
not guarantee that registration will still be open at packet pick-up and suggest registering early to secure
your spot in the 2014 Groundhog Run.
Gear check will be available for all Groundhog Run participants on race morning at Hunt Midwest
SubTropolis. Gear check will be set up next to packet pickup. Please review the following items to
ensure an enjoyable gear check experience.
- Open from 7am - 12pm. All items MUST be picked up by 12pm.
- Gear check will be for race participants ONLY. Runners must present their bib for drop-off
and pick-up. Items will be organized according to each runner's bib number.
- Garmin bags will be available at packet pickup. Runners must use the Garmin bag
provided. If you are picking up your packet on Friday or Saturday at Garry Gribbles, please
remember to bring your Garmin bag to the race on Sunday.
- All items must fit inside the Garmin bag. Handles must be able to tie shut.
Dimensions of the bag: 16" x 6" x 12"
- Hunt Midwest, Children's TLC and The Running Well Store are not responsible for lost or
stolen items. Please do not leave valuable or irreplaceable items in your bag.
- Race organizers have the right to search any bags.
A gear check has been made possible for the 2014 race by our friends at The Running Well Store.
- The overall male and female in both the 5k and 10k will receive an award
- Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the top three male and top three female
finishers in each age group in both the 5k and 10k races.
- NEW this year: Every 10k participant will receive a commemorative finishers medal
- Team Awards will be given to the 1st and 2nd place finishing teams in both the 5k and 10k.
